Peace, Love and Luon

Peace, Love and Luon

Imagine a sea of love, luon and beautiful people sharing a special four day experience in  epic locales like O’ahu, Stratton, Aspen, Squaw Valley, Whistler and Tremblant to name a few. When you commit to the Wanderlust experience and then spend the time to carefully plan your busy festival schedule you will want to invest the same amount of energy into choosing what to pack and what to wear on this transformative journey.  Now is the time to freshen up your Lululemon quiver in time for summer and festival season.

Lululemon’s savvy designs are created with the nomadic yogi and fitness fiend in mind.  Less is always more. As a fitness journalist and reporter, the less I schlep on my adventures the better. That being said, I expect my fitness gear to make a statement. I don’t know about you, but I pack pieces that offer interchangeable wardrobe options that cross over for a variety of different sports and activities. There is a lot to be said for travelling light, even for a woman. Choose luggage and travel products wisely. This will help keep you organized, underweight and hassle free.

Mind and Body Kit:
An adventure gal’s best friend, the Mind and Body Kit is your shower / makeup / beach / cosmetic kit all in one. Ample space will more than satisfy both product junkies and super glam gals.  Water resistant and easy to clean, I love the friendly reminder stitched inside the kit ‘don’t forget your toothbrush!’ I also love that the special pouch holds several 3oz lotions and potions for zero stress at airport security.

Sweat Once A Day Bag

The Lululemon Sweat Once a Day Bag is the only gear bag you need. There are plenty of compartments for storing sweaty layers, your mat towel, water bottle, smart phone and even a 15inch laptop! This bag sparkles on and off the beach. Bonus: a removable mat strap!

The Mat

Have you ever been in a yoga class and drooled over your neighbour’s sleek, smooth Lululemon mat? It’s called mat envy and thank Buddha I don’t have to deal with that anymore. If you are heading to a yoga / surf / sand retreat like Wanderlust O’ahu or any other amazing Wanderlust festival location this summer, don’t bring a travel mat. Why? The amount of use and abuse it will take calls for the Cadillac. The Mat is worth the extra weight and then some. Rushing from a surf session directly to a yoga class will result in a wet and sandy mat. The good news is no slip, great grip and it dries in a tropical snap.  This is the only mat you will ever need.

Let’s look at some well tested picks from my Wanderlust O’ahu bliss trip. When you are shopping for breezy beach pieces to add to your luon collection, consider these warm weather wardrobe enhancements. If you are at all like me, it’s all colour and comfort.  Zero adjustment and serious stretch is a must for this fitness fashionista. I want my pants to feel like second skin but I also want to make a fashion statement when working out. As an active lifestyle TV host I live in active wear most of the time.   Here’s my hot list.

The Stretch Scuba Hoodie
The only hoodie you will ever need, Lululemon has adapted the Scuba to our needs and demands. More stretch, a longer cut and killer colours are the result.  Perfect for travelling, après yoga and hanging out on the beach, this is the only warm layer you need to pack. The staple Lulu thumbhole and high scuba collar make it the ideal before, after and during play cover up and a wardrobe snuggle staple.

Battle of the crop:  Wunder Under Crop vs. In the Flow Crop

The Wunder Under Crop material feels softer than a baby’s bum. The colours are to die for and the four-way stretch luon is a tropical wardrobe dream come true.  Even in the sweatiest of classes and conditions the Wunder Under Crop will amaze you. Buy one in every colour, if your budget allows!  The In the Flow Crop is a close match as the stretch is phenomenal. The Special Edition version has new waffle-like stitching on the side leg that gives it even more detail than the last edition. Plus, calf length is a great cut for so many body types. These two crops are both flattering and functional and come in some vibrant ‘notice me’ colours.

In a Flash Singlet

Classes like Beastie Yoga with MC Yogi and DJ Drez require loose fitting pieces that allow you to flow and groove. Cute little details like ventilation holes were designed to work in your favour. For a summer / tropical piece this is my favourite. With plenty of natural airflow, the fabric works well even over a damp bikini when hustling from the beach to yoga.

Roll Out Tank Silver

If you prefer it all built into one, the Roll Out Tank has the bra, built in cups and Silverescent technology which is Lululemon’s trademark odour and bacteria killing miracle fiber. If you need some extra support for the girls, extra material to hide a Buddha belly or you just like to be free to move and dance, this tank is a must.

Run Speed Short

It’s called the run, but it works well for hot, SUP and activities like hiking too. New spring colours like camouflage will motivate you to charge on. No need for panties. The Swift Ultra Fabric is light and breezy and the three pocket waistband is at your service. I did a SUP Yoga class in these at Wanderlust O’ahu and even though I got wet, the fabric didn’t chafe.

Just like a quiver of surfboards, your collection is never complete. Always try to keep it fresh. Believe it or not, new fitness and yoga gear will motivate. Adding even one or two newer technical pieces will pay off in practice. Your fitness vibe will be at an all time high and your energy will soar. Wearing something new, fresh, fun and functional will keep you feeling and looking great.
