Mother Nature got us the best day of the month of May for the first event of the 2014 season Drift Mania Canadian Championship on May 25th . The sun was out and the fans were present in thousands. The winter has been long and the fans of drifting were eager to burn tires !

Without being the first official round, the warm-up round was actually more a day of testing and running, not only for most drivers present but also for the organization, the various media and the new employees. Changes made during the winter in the functioning of the DMCC events should help reduce downtime and thus improve the pace of events.

Considering that all events will take place on a single day this summer (no more two day events), everything will need in place for the schedules to be met. If the next round goes as the warm-up day we should see a good improvement at this level ! It should also be noted that the DMCC team works very hard to make this tenth season a success.

Pros

Only ten pro drivers were present at the event, most of them are still preparing for the official start of the season and for the qualifying round of the Formula Drift Canada events. The drivers who where present gave us a great show.

Mini top 8 Pro –Am

Practice day or not, pro- ams drivers also had a mini Top-8 competition on which to focus. Qulifying was unfortunately not easy for most of them , only seven pilots were qualified , the highest score being awarded to Éric Bélanger.

A good battle between Jayson Coté and Carl Harvey, was one of the good moments in the top -8, requiring a One more time Battle from which Coté emerged victorious after an a spin from Harvey.

Jesen Lemarbre ( Skyline R32 ) and Alexandre Blanchette ( blue Nissan KSK ) battled for third place Blanchette won despite concerns relating to his engine overheating .

In the finals, Éric Bélanger ( Nissan ‘’Fast Install’’) and Jayson Coté (Red Nissan-Pickup) battled for the top step of the podium. Bélanger was the big winner of the first event of the summer 2014
