You'll Be Blown Away By The Up Close And Personal Shots Wildlife Photographer Will

UK-based wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas uses remote-controlled cars, drones and his incredible talent to capture incredible images of wildlife worldwide - and posts them on instagram for us to enjoy!

Back in 2009, I was unable to find products that would allow me to achieve my vision, so I started to develop my own devices for getting my camera close to potentially dangerous wild animals. This led to the creation of BeetleCam, a remote-control buggy for my DSLR camera. I have since launched a company,Camtraptions Ltd, to further develop remote and camera trap products for forward thinking, innovative photographers and filmmakers.

I enjoy photographing wildlife all over the world but African wildlife has become my primary focus in recent years. I spent part of my childhood in Tanzania, where I first developed a passion for Africa and its wildlife. In 2012, I moved to Zambia for a year and I spent much of my time exploring the Luangwa Valley. I continued my work with BeetleCam and came back with unique images of elusive animals such as leopards and African wild dogs.

I am passionate about wildlife conservation. I have partnered with a number of conservation organisationsaround the world, donating my time and images to help them with their fundraising activities. I also try to raise awareness for these organisations in my talks and on my website and social media channels. Ultimately, through my work, I aim to inspire people to celebrate and conserve the natural wonders of our planet.

“Most animals are curious when they meet BeetleCam, in particular lions,” Burrard-Lucas says. “The original BeetleCam I made didn’t have a protective shell and had an encounter with some playful lions. The camera was destroyed but luckily BeetleCam survived and I was able to recover the memory card to retrieve the photos.”

His favorite BeetleCam shot? “I loved photographing the African wild dogs in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. I was really happy with the results, which showed the inquisitive dogs in their environment.”
