Aussie Rugby Players (And Possibly Skateboarders) Are Now Pissing In Their Own Mouths UPDATED

Controversial Australian rugby player Todd Carney earned international recognition this weekend after someone tweeted a photo of the sports star peeing into his own mouth at a hotel urinal. Within 24 hours, the footballer’s team, the Cronulla Sharks, had canceled his $650,000-a-year contract.

The photo in question

“It was just a prank. The boys had seen me doing it before. I didn’t think a photo would be taken and I didn’t think it would be public,” Carney said. “I just hope this isn’t the end of me as a footballer.”

“It’s huge in Australia,” pro skater Troy West told VICE. “It’s part of our everyday life. My dad actually taught me how to do it when I was a kid.” (Check out Troy's wicked travel blog HERE)

This may or may not be skater Troy West drinking his own piss

Except West was actually kidding, or “taking the piss,” as they say. Until now, peeing in your own mouth was not, in fact, an actual thing in Australia (if you don’t count Fosters). But that may soon change thanks to Carney. Fans of the footballer are creating Facebook groups called “Piss in Your Mouth for Todd Carney” and posting photos of themselves doing just that. In essence, turning a fake trend story into a real one.

Fuck, aussies are a weird bunch!

Buzzfeed is reporting on this weird "trend" as well and it seems like it may be one of the best pranks ever pulled off by Troy and his crew! Reporting on the Vice piece they say:

In the same piece, West said bubbling makes you a better skater, adding: “It’s a pretty big statement. Try it and find the meaning yourself.”

Rather unsurprisingly though, it appears West may not have been telling the truth.
Apparently he and his skater friends made up the bubbling craze and have been trying to make it go viral for years.

According to Mashable, Australian skaters have bee trolling other skaters on tour for a while, trying to make them believe the whole “my father taught me” line.

Epic!
